A café running Square with Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat has at least four copies of every price: the till, and one per platform. Each copy was correct the day someone typed it. From that day on, every one of them is quietly rotting — supplier costs move, a lunch menu launches, a discount ends — and nothing connects them back together. The typical fix owners reach for is a spreadsheet and a monthly "menu audit", which catches the biggest errors a month late and misses the rest.
It's a simple rule with a big payoff: a price is decided once, in the system that rings the sale, and every other channel receives it rather than re-types it. The POS is the right anchor because:
"One price" means one source: the till decides, and every channel follows it, either at the same price or through a rule you set. What that rule should be depends on what you sell:
Café, coffee shop or takeawayDeliveroo's Value Programme ranks restaurants on the markup across their top 20 sellers. Keep those under 10% to stay in the Good tier, price the rest of the menu by margin, and keep every price in step with your till.
Convenience store, off-licence or groceryShops are outside the Value Programme today. Price each line by margin so commission never takes a line below cost, and keep app prices in step with your till.

The failure mode is always the same shape: the till is right, one platform is right, one platform is three weeks stale, and nobody notices until a regular orders on the wrong app and mentions it. Worse is the silent version — the platform price that's correct-looking but wrong, selling all week at a number nobody decided. Drift isn't dramatic; it's just a slow leak, and slow leaks are the ones that close businesses.
SyncShelf (in testing) connects to your POS (Square first), reads your item prices, and pushes matched prices to Deliveroo (Uber Eats is next). It flags drift the moment a platform price stops matching where it should be — so "source of truth" becomes something your systems enforce, not a rule someone remembers.
