SyncShelf is being built to keep your delivery prices in step with your Square prices automatically, and to show each item's margin after commission. It starts with Deliveroo, and Uber Eats is the next platform planned. Join the early list to hear when it's ready for Uber Eats.
In your shop, you keep the price minus VAT (if any) minus what the item cost you.
On Uber Eats, there's also the platform's commission: the cost of reaching delivery customers. So you keep the Uber Eats price, minus VAT, minus commission, minus your cost. That's why delivery prices are usually set a little higher than shop prices.
The suggested price is the lowest Uber Eats price that gives you the same £ profit (or the same % margin) as your shop. The rounded figure goes up to the next price ending in 9p.
The example figures use a 25% shop margin, the top of the 20–25% most independent shops work on (Talking Retail), and a 30% commission. Change them to your own.
Assumptions: commission is worked out on the price the customer pays. If you're VAT registered, you reclaim any VAT Uber Eats charges on its commission; if not, we assume 20% VAT on it as an extra cost. It leaves out packaging, delivery fees, offers you fund and card fees. VAT examples are a rough guide; check HMRC's guidance on food and VAT and hot takeaway food. This is an estimate, not tax or financial advice.
